Desired Profile:
(a) Red Hat Enterprise Linux (64 bit) [preferably Red Hat certified]
(b) Shell scripting in Linux
(c) Use of ssh, rsync, crontab, curl, gcc, make etc on Linu
(d) Securing Linux based ser
( e) Understanding of networking equipment such as routers, load balancers, cache servers
Their responsibilities will include:
(a) Installing, optimizing and maintaining servers based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux
(b) Installing and configuring additional software such as Java (Sun JDK 1.6 SE or later), SOLR etc
(c) Compiling software on Linux as instructed
(d) Setting up firewall to protect application and database servers against attacks and proactively resisting any attacks
(e) Setting up and testing automated replication of data between servers
(f) Regularly check for operating system or application software vulnerabilities and apply patches as and when they’re available after compatibility testing
(g) Configure automatic backups on tape and perform recovery testing
(h) Analyse logs and report on any huge increases in load to the servers along with root cause
(i) Ensure 99.999% uptime of the servers
